2025 Brown Girls Rock-Bold, Brilliant, and Beautiful: A Decade of Celebrating Brown Girl Excellence

Brown Girls Rock: The Nellie Awards! (BGR) is the premier awards ceremony honoring women and girls of color. Nominated by community members, these “Girls Who Rock”, serve as influencers, disruptors, trendsetters, reformers, agitators, and agents of change throughout central Arkansas, and beyond. Known for empowering families, building economic wealth, enhancing the environment, advocating for social justice, and uplifting local communities, nominees will be awarded, and inducted into this growing yet niche group of black and brown women who have been recognized annually through the Pearls Foundation in partnership with the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.®, Chi Eta Omega chapter. 

The Pearls Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes. The Foundation’s mission is to support programs that provide opportunities for educational advancement and quality of life improvements for the citizens of Central Arkansas. The Foundation’s resources are used to fund college scholarships, health, economics, and other educational programs focused on strengthening families and improving the academic standing of underserved youth in central Arkansas. The PEARLS Foundation is also the charitable arm of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, Chi Eta Omega chapter.

As we celebrate the 10th anniversary of honoring remarkable young women, our theme for this
milestone year is Bold, Brilliant, and Beautiful: A Decade of Celebrating Brown Girl Excellence. This
highly anticipated event will take place on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at The Westwind in North Little
Rock. Guests will enjoy an elegant evening of entertainment, cocktails, networking with community
members and leaders from across Arkansas, and mingling hosted by Ms. Monique Samuels, Former Star of Bravo’s -The Real Housewives of Potomac, OWN’s Reality TV show Love and Marriage: D.C., and owner of Mila Eva Essentials.
